Since I had never heard of Nollywood or the booming film industry in Nigeria before getting cast in this film, I thought I'd give you a wee bit of background on it - compliments of Wikipedia: The cinema of Nigeria - growing quickly in the 1990s and 2000s to become the second largest film industry in the world, ahead of the United States but behind the Indian film industries. Nigeria has a US$250 million movie industry, churning out some 200 videos for the home video market every month.
Nigerian cinema is Africa's largest movie industry. The Nigerian video feature film industry is sometimes colloquially known as Nollywood, having been derived as a play on Hollywood in the same manner as Bollywood.
- This film was made here in Atlanta with Nigerian writer/director Peter Uko and a mostly Nigerian or African cast and crew. This group has a very family feel to it, and I'm excited to hopefully work with them again and can't wait to see the final production! Shout out to my awesome actress cohort Nia - she's so pretty and nice.
